The AIS provides a wide range of services and assistance for schools in the area of student wellbeing, the main areas of which are described below.
The AIS supports schools to promote student wellbeing through a number of strategies including:
- Courses and Conferences delivered by the AIS. See AIS Courses and Events for more information.
- Consultancies - customised professional learning is available on site at schools for their staff. Contact the Director of Professional Learning on (02) 9299 2845 for more information.
Funding and Grants
Independent schools can apply for a Student Wellbeing Grant of up to $2000 to conduct projects which support the promotion of student wellbeing within the school. See 'Student Wellbeing Grants' under Funded Programs.
A significant number of different pieces of legislation exist that relate to the need for schools (and other agencies) to cater for the health, welfare and wellbeing of children. Management of Specific Incidents
The AIS assists schools to manage specific incidents involving child protection, bullying, harassment, and violent and other unacceptable behaviour to minimise the negative impact on students and school staff from such incidents. We also assist schools with the development of Health Care Plans. Principals should contact the AIS on (02) 9299 2845 if they require urgent assistance with any specific incidents.
